Why didn't I get a reply to my enquiry?

We ALWAYS respond to all enquiries. If you have not received a response within a reasonable timeframe (24hrs usually), please do two things: first, please check your junk folder. Sometimes, our responses end up there for some reason. If you cannot find the response, something’s gone wrong. Please send us a message again. Please make sure you put the correct email address in the text field. Thank you!

Why do I need to fill in the form?

We ask those questions because we want to know how we can contact you if we need to, and because we want to create an experience that you’ll really enjoy. That’s the only reason. We don’t store, use or misuse the information we receive – that’s a promise. Still don’t like forms? Send us an email instead!

Is it for me?

Are the experiences suitable for children or teenagers?

That is not a question we have a general answer to. To be honest, we have had mixed experiences with children: while some absolutely loved it, others seemed genuinely bored. We suggest you discuss the tour with your children and see if they like the idea of joining it. That said, children are definitely very welcome (we love kids) and we do our best to make everyone happy!

I want to see sights. Are we going to do some sightseeing at all?

It is hard to walk around especially the central parts of Prague and not stumble upon sights. Nevertheless, sightseeing in the traditional sense of the word is not what we focus on. We want to provide a more local experience, which does not necessarily involve sights, or at least the main sights in Prague.

I don't drink alcohol. Can I get a discount?

We're sorry, but we have to say no. In a land where beer is cheaper than tap water, non-alcoholic options come, albeit bizarrely, at a premium cost. That is why we do not offer discounts to teetotalers, although we do provide non-alcoholic options wherever we go. Thank you for understanding.

I am a vegetarian/vegan/lactose intolerant/celiac. Are the experiences for me?

Tough question that deserves an honest answer. We do our best to accommodate every preference, allergy or restriction. That said, we still want to show a true image of what Czech cuisine is all about. For instance, Czech cuisine relies heavily on the use of butter, and thus has very little to offer to vegans and people intolerant to processed milk. We could, of course, serve some vegan dishes but we would be lying if we said it was in any way representative of the Czech cuisine. Czech cuisine also focuses on meat, and while we do love to take vegetarians on our walk, a limited assortment of dishes should be expected if you want to eat Czech and not eat meat. Celiacs (people with gluten allergy) are welcome to join our walks, with a slightly modified and/or limited assortment of dishes. We do write this now to avoid any disappointments later. We think that when it comes to food allergies and dietary restrictions, honesty is the best policy. 

Are solo travelers welcome? And how about couples? 

Absolutely! However, please note that we cannot run an experience or event for one. Therefore, your reservation may be subject to a later enquiry by someone else. In that case, we will take your reservation (but not the deposit) and let you know immediately if and when someone else books the same experience for the same date. Then we will prompt you to pay the deposit and book your spot. If you want a private tour for one, please send us an email.

The same applies to couples. We run our experiences for groups of three or more, simply because larger groups have a bigger variety of foods to taste. In the unlikely event that we cannot find three people for an experience and a couple has booked the date, we reserve the right to cancel the experience in a timely manner. Of course, we will refund your deposit and we will give you all the tips that you would have received during the experience for free as an apology for the cancellation. We hope you understand. We always do our best to make the experience happen.

Do you run private experiences?

Our experiences are designed as semi-private events. We do limit the size of the group to ten guest per a local. Therefore, if you are enquiring as a couple, for instance, another couple or two may join the event or experience. If you want a private experience instead, please send us an email. We will work something out but please note that we may request an additional charge for a private experience.

Where and when?

When do the experiences start?

Our tours start at diffent times throughout the day, but we generally like to organise a lunch tour and a dinner tour whenever possible. That said, if you have a specific request regarding the start and end of the tour, please send us an email. We are a small company and we always try our best to accommodate these requirements.

Where do we start and where do we end?

We like to keep our tours fresh and change the routes continuously to make sure we visit the best and the freshest venues. We will advise you of the meeting spot at the time of booking. 

How do I recognize my foodie guide?

We don’t like big signs, umbrellas and the like. We like to blend in with the locals, not stand out as tourists. Therefore, we do not use any signs at all. We will find each other. We always have.

What is included and how do i pay?

Are the prices all-inclusive?

Yes. We think food and drinks are a big part of the culture and the local scene, and they should be a part of the experience. We also want you to forget about money, cash, change and exchange rates for a while. Just sit back and relax. It’s your vacation. We will be making all the payments.

How can I pay?

We usually request a deposit payment upfront that we use to make the required reservations and bookings. It can be paid easily via PayPal (with no PayPal account required from you). The balance is payable in cash at the end of the experience.

Can I pay in Euros?

The short answer is, sadly, no. The long answer: in early 2017, the Czech National Bank has recently officially stopped its monetary intervention of three years, which has rendered the CZK-EUR unstable in the short term. Because it is difficult for us to predict the outcome of all this, we are afraid we have to suspend the option of payments in EUR for now. We are sorry but we hope you understand.

Can I use a card?

We are sorry but we do not accept credit cards at the moment. We have been looking for a viable solution for a long time but are yet to find it.

Can I pay the balance online, too?

Yes. That said, we do have to charge a 6% surcharge on top of the balance payment to cover the associated transaction costs. Thank you for understanding.

Late arrivals, cancellations etc...

How late can I be?

Please try to be on time. We wait for ten minutes, unless we receive a call that you are running late, with the estimated time of arrival. The events and experiences are non-private so other people will probably join the tour, too, and we all share the same time. If you are running later than 20 min after the starting time and you still want to join the tour, call us when you get to the meeting point. We will let you know where and when you can meet us. We will also always try to contact you by phone or email if we can’t find you at the meeting place. We can always work something out, we just need to connect with you (that's why we ask for your cell number we can reach you at during your stay in Prague - if you don't have one and you are running late, please go to the closest hotel and ask them if they could call us).

How bad does the weather have to be for the tour to be cancelled?

Really bad. We usually design our experiences and events to take the possibility of bad weather into account. If we expect bad weather, we will inform you accordingly (e.g. “take an extra layer”, “bring an umbrella” etc.). We will cancel the tour if the conditions are truly extreme. We will always do everything to run a tour that is booked; however, we will cancel if we think it might be harmful to our guests.   

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that sometimes your travel plans may change due to unexpected circumstances. We request the deposit to cover our booking and reservations costs and as commitment that you will join the tour or stay in the apartment (we end up declining many enquiries due to the high demand). As a rule, we refund all deposits if you cancel 30 days before the scheduled date of the reserved experience or stay or later, minus the transaction costs. We are sorry but we keep the deposit if you cancel later to cover the associated costs. 

In addition, if you cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled time of the tour, we will charge the payable balance for the tour from your card.  

In the same spirit, we refund deposits for our MiFi rentals if you cancel 14 days before the first day of your rental period. After this, we have to keep the deposit to cover the associated costs. Thank you for understanding.

Who is running Taste of Prague, anyway?

Okay, here's the masthead: Taste of Prague is us, Zuzi, Karolina, Anna, Martin and Jan but formally, it is run by a company called Delicious Thoughts s.r.o., ID No. (IC) 24164241, registered with the Commercial Register administered by the Municipal Court in Prague under file no. C 184609, address: Fr. Krizka 461/11, 170 00 Prague 7. We own that company. (And yes, we're putting this here just to comply with Czech legal requirements.)
