Why didn't I get a reply to my enquiry?

We ALWAYS respond to all enquiries. If you have not received a response within a reasonable timeframe (let’s say 24hrs), please do two things: (1) Please check your junk folder. Sometimes, our responses end up there for whatever reason. (2) If you cannot find the response there, something’s gone wrong. Please send us a message again. Please make sure you put the correct email address in the text field. Thank you!

Why do I need to fill in the form?

We know. We’re nosey. But we ask those questions because we want to know how to contact you if needed, and because we want to create an experience that you’ll really enjoy. That’s the only reason. We don’t store, use or misuse the information we receive – that’s a promise. Still not a fan of forms? Send us an email instead! (We’ll make you give us the information via email, anyway.) 

Is it for me?

Are the experiences suitable for children or teenagers?

We love kids. Most of us have some. (BTW, have you seen Mr JJ’s Instagram?) But whenever we get that question, the rule of thumb is: “If you have to ask, the answer is probably no.” Some kids absolutely loved it, others seemed genuinely bored. We suggest you discuss the tour with your children and see if they like the idea of joining. But not a problem on our end. 

I want to see sights. Are we going to do some sightseeing at all?

It is hard to walk around especially the central parts of Prague and not stumble upon sights. Nevertheless, sightseeing in the traditional sense of the word is not what we focus on. We want to provide a more local experience, which does not necessarily involve sights, or at least the main sights in Prague.

I don't drink alcohol. Can I get a discount?

We're sorry, but we have to say no. In a land where beer is cheaper than tap water, non-alcoholic options come, albeit bizarrely, at a premium cost. But don’t worry: we do provide non-alcoholic options wherever we go. At no additional charge.

How much walking is involved?

Some, but not much. We run food tours, not death marches. We’re talking over a mile. You should gain weight on our tour, not lose it.

I am a vegetarian/vegan/lactose intolerant/celiac. Are the experiences for me?

The short answer: vegetarians, celiacs and guests with lactose intolerant: yes, with some restrictions. Vegans: sorry, but Czech cuisine has nothing if you can’t eat butter. 

We do our best to accommodate every preference, allergy or restriction. That said, we still want to show what Czech cuisine is all about. Latitude-wise, this is 50 parallel, the equivalent of Canada. Therefore, there is a focus on meat and on butter in Czech cuisine, because our growing season is fairly short. We always make sure everybody’s happy. Just expect a different menu if you’re vegetarian, celiac or can’t process dairy. And if you’re more of these things at once, write us an email explaining your preferences. We will let you know if we can work with your restrictions. 

Are solo travelers welcome? And how about couples? 

Flying solo? Not a problem. However, please note that we cannot run tours for one (unless it’s a private tour). Therefore, your reservation may be subject to a later enquiry by someone else, and we reserve the right to cancel your booking and refund your deposit if no one else books the tour you booked. However, that has never happened yet and if it does, we will discuss viable alternatives (like joining another tour) in due time. (If you want a private tour for one, please send us an email.)

The same applies to couples. We run our experiences for groups of three or more, simply because larger groups can taste more things. 

Do you run private experiences?

We run “regular” tours and private tours. Our “regular” tours are designed as semi-private events, with the size of the group capped at ten. Therefore, if you are enquiring as a couple, for instance, another couple or two may join the tour. If you want a private experience instead, please send us an email. We will work something out but please note that private tours are subject to additional charges. Our experiences are designed as semi-private events. Where and when?

When do the experiences start?

Our tours start at different times throughout the day, but we generally like to run a lunch tour and a dinner tour whenever possible. Have a specific request regarding the start and end of the tour? Please send us an email. We are a small company run by sensible people and we will try our best to make it work for you.

Where do we start and where do we end?

We do change our meeting spots as new, exciting places we may want to visit as part of the tour open up. That is why we will advise you of the meeting spot at the time of booking.

How do I recognize my foodie guide?

We never have an umbrella unless it’s raining. (This will make a lot of more sense once you’re in Prague.) We do not use any signs at all. We will find each other. We always have.

What is included and how do i pay?

Are the prices all-inclusive? What is included?

Yes. The price includes all the food and drinks. A looooot of both. Just sit back and relax. It’s your vacation. We will be making all the payments. (And yes, we’re tipping on your behalf.) Other things included: some gifts at the end of the tour. Transportation within the tour. Lots of tips, recommendations and general advice before, during and after the tour.

What is not included?

Any purchases you may want to make during the tour. Any food and drinks on top of what we serve. (Some substitutes are included, but if you want to pop Cristal in every spot… well, that’s on you.) Transport to the meeting spot, and transport from the last restaurant to where you may want to go later on, is not included either.

How can I pay?

We usually request a deposit payment upfront. It can be paid easily online. The balance is then paid in cash at the end of the experience.

Can I pay in Euros?

The short answer is yes. But here's the fine print: We will calculate an exchange rate on the day of the tour. Please note that the awesome rates you find in your app are interbank rates that are beyond our reach. So if our rate is worse than the one in the app (and it will be), we are not ripping you off: we just need to physically exchange the EUR into CZK later on, and need to apply the exchange rate that will be applied to our transaction by the exchange office.

Can I use a card?

We are sorry but we do not accept credit cards at the moment. We have been looking for a viable solution for a long time but are yet to find it.

Can I pay the balance online, too?

Yes. That said, we do have to charge a 6% surcharge on top of the balance payment to cover the associated transaction costs. Thank you for understanding. (Blame PayPal.)

Late arrivals, cancellations etc...

How late can I be?

Please try to be on time. We wait for about ten minutes. Then we start. If you are running later than that, but you still want to join the tour, call us. We will let you know if, where and when you can meet us.

How bad does the weather have to be for the tour to be cancelled?

Really bad. We design our tours with the possibility of bad weather in mind, and we spend most of our time indoors. If we expect bad weather, we will inform you accordingly (e.g. “take an extra layer”, “bring an umbrella” etc.). We will cancel the tour only if the conditions are truly extreme. (Hint: since 2011 when we started, we haven't cancelled a single tour due to bad weather.)   

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that sometimes your travel plans may change due to unexpected circumstances. We request the deposit to cover our booking and reservations costs and as commitment that you will join the tour or stay in the apartment (we end up declining many enquiries due to the high demand). As a rule, we refund all deposits if you cancel 30 days before the scheduled date of the reserved experience or stay, minus the transaction costs. We are sorry but we keep the deposit if you cancel later to cover the associated costs. 

In addition, if you cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled time of the tour, we will charge the payable balance for the tour from your card.  

Who is running Taste of Prague, anyway?

Okay, here's the masthead: Taste of Prague is us, Zuzi, Karolina, Anna, Martin, Marketa, Eva and Jan but formally, it is run by a company called Delicious Thoughts s.r.o., ID No. (IC) 24164241, registered with the Commercial Register administered by the Municipal Court in Prague under file no. C 184609, address: Fr. Krizka 461/11, 170 00 Prague 7. We own that company. (And yes, we're putting this here just to comply with Czech legal requirements.)
