Eating Alone Together, pt VII: Get a Drink with Parlour

Whether you’re social or anti-social, you are probably staying at home. But you can still eat well and in style, right? At least now you can, with our Easting Alone Together series of dinners and special events.

What is “Eating Alone Together”?

Oh, so glad you asked. It’s easy:

  1. We miss the restaurant experience: sharing a nice moment with someone you love, over some great food, in a restaurant you both love.

  2. Food is more than just take-away pizza that you eat in sweatpants while binge-watching The Tiger King. (Guilty as charged here!) It’s easy to forget that after a month in containment.

  3. Prague restaurants are excellent, serve fantastic food, and can stand up to the challenges posed by the quarantine rules.

  4. Local producers are people too, and they need your support now more than ever.

The sixth episode of our Eating Alone Together series takes us a bit East. About time! When we cannot travel physically, we can at least travel through the food.

Eating alone together, pt VII: Four drinks with Parlour bar

The seventh episode of our Eating Alone Together series is not about eating at all. It’s about drinking.

Because let’s be real: after a month+ of quarantine, we all need a drink.

And when we here at Taste of Prague need a drink, the first place we turn to is the infamous Parlour bar, one of our favorite cocktail bars in Prague.

And we know: you can argue with just about anything when it comes to Parlour, a bar run by two philosophers of mixology, a bar that serves Pringles as the only food, a bar that makes no effort to be visible on social media, a bar that does not have a drinks menu and can give you a hard time when you’re choosing one, a bar that does not necessarily play well with the rest of them, but there’s one thing you cannot argue with. And that’s the drinks.

The drinks are delicious, people. And Parlour, just like all Prague’s bars, is now hurting. (If you have not listened to their podcast, you should.)

So Parlour needs your help, and you need a drink. What a coincidence? This is a package of FOUR FANTASTIC AND FANTASTICALLY PRICED DRINKS, staples at the bar, packed to go in reused tonic water bottles (you’re welcome, planet), with ice on the side, delivered right to your thirsty home.

And just as usual, we will meet online to say hi and cheer each other! This is supposed to be social, people! Also, you will get an email with our Prague Foodie Map, the Taste of Prague Digest, and a drink-along playlist by Parlour, and a dissenting playlist by us. This will be fun.

The drinks by Parlour will be delivered on Saturday between 6pm and 8pm for your later enjoyment. You serve your drinks in your own glasses with the supplied ice at your own pace.

The Menu

  • Šílenství (aka Insanity): Spritz for the thinking man and woman

  • Negroni: Gin plus sweet bitterness

  • Old fashioned on Rum: ‘Nuff said

  • Příčetnost (aka Sanity): A bit like a negroni with a smoky finish… and beginning

  • Whiskey Sour: About Scottish plains and seas

  • Essencial: Gin, rose and lemongrass sucking on a mild mint.

  • Shanghai Tea: Gin, lychee and Jasmine tea

How does it work?

The meal will be delivered to your home on Saturday, April 25, between 6pm and 8pm for CZK 1000. The price includes

  • four drinks of your choice, from a list of seven, see menu above

  • delivery to your door!!!

  • the social perks: Parlour’s playlist for the cooking/dinner, our own playlist for the cooking/dinner, an invitation to our Skype video conference where we’ll meet at a specific point, and whatever we come up with in the meantime.

  • our Prague Foodie Map, normally a CZK 200 download

  • the Taste of Prague Digest, a selection of our favorite food-related links and online tips for your reading and viewing enjoyment, the closest we’ve ever come to having a mail newsletter

  • our and Parlour’s eternal thanks, and a great feeling you’ve done something for one of the most reliable and hard-working people on the Prague food scene

As a side note: We don’t think anybody’s making any major money on this. It’s just a few businesses who want to make our quarantine a bit better.

How to order:

You will pay for the meal in our online shop. Click on the link or below to purchase. The price includes the cost of delivery via our friends over at Liftago.
